I feel so lucky to have lived in the beautiful state of Maine because I know where my favorite restaurants are when I visit now.
Portland, Maine, is one of the best foodie towns. In 2018 Portland, Maine, was named Bon Appetite magazine’s “American’s Foodiest Small Town.” Through the last five years, Portland has seen growth on a large scale, a pandemic impact, and employee shortages. Yet, the city maintains the finest chefs and the most exciting dining experiences.
My friend Karen lives in the West End and suggested Hot Suppa for a late lunch. Perfectly cozy atmosphere and incredible comfort food. I had their special of the day, and it was on challah bread. It is the most delicious bread ever.
Then I met friends at Fore Street restaurant. My first experience at Fore Street was in 2002. The restaurant has fantastic dining rooms. The tables overlook the kitchen at the center of the main room. Exquisite food, impeccable service, and attention to every detail create a memorable dining experience.
The last night of my quick visit was spent at Flatbread Pizza. Creative combinations of fresh produce and meats make their pizzas delectable. The crust is fantastic because it is made in their wood-fired oven and served immediately to your table. The water view and casual atmosphere make it excellent for lunch or dinner.
