This whole “Living in Florida” was supposed to have health benefits. I am not rethinking my move from Delaware to the sunshine state. But…
I love sunshine and it is uplifting for me. What about you? It is true that some people suffer from the winter blues. Yes, Florida is almost always sunny. Here comes the but, but I am down and out as soon as rain starts to fall from the sky. Or when my favorite coffee shop runs out of my chocolate croissant just as I get to the register. I also hit rock bottom when my closest Starbucks is closed due to lack of coverage for all shifts. It is due to the pandemic. I lose it when I miss the garbage men and know it will be a week until they return. I no longer have my period so that keeps my attitude on an even keel.
There are so many things to be thankful for living in Florida. No coats, hats, gloves or mittens, just sunscreen is used to protect your skin. I love wearing linen and cotton. My laundry is so lite weight. Shoes are sneakers or flip flops and can stay out on your porch. When it does rain you grab an umbrella, that’s it! And, in the summer, the traffic is lighter which makes it easy to get to where you are going, hopefully the beach.
After it stops raining in Florida, the sun shines. I have instant energy. My mood lightens. The lightened mood changes my attitude. If I need to run an errand, I can put the car windows down and feel the fresh air.
I have just written a blog and cheered my self up. Now, you write a note to yourself or in a journal and cheer yourself up. Start with complaining and end with what you like best about where you live. Send me a note if you are having trouble getting started. I am here for you.
