PS – I will never ask you to say it three times!

Hotel Close to Town

When I travel I am usually accompanied by my son Grayson.  But, before we travel, we plan.  I make sure to choose a hotel with in walking distance of the main street of the town or city we are visiting.  I want to make sure Grayson is able to walk back and forth from hotel to town without a worry.  I am the one who worries, not Grayson.

Also, a hotel close to town makes; “Crap, I forgot my cell phone,” less stressful.

Referrals

I never travel without making sure I first post on social media the question, “Has anyone traveled to my next destination?”  Suggestions are a great way to navigate a new town or city.  You can google the suggestions to see if they are to your taste not just your friends taste.  I have found most of these referrals from friends reliable.

Food

My son only likes burgers, ok he will branch out.   If you have a picky eater companion, check to see if the restaurant has their choice too.  Always try to accommodate both travelers.

Liquor

Does your travel companion drink?  Does your travel companion get drunk?

This is important if you don’t want to end up babysitting your friend or sharing a cell with said friend.  You may already know your travel buddy and both of you can hang together.  If this is not the case, just lie to them.  “I love 2-3 straight vodka shots and two packs of smokes a day.”  If the reply is “Oh, that’s nothing!” You may want to reconsider.

Stuff That Makes You Crazy

Let’s see, where do I begin?  I have stayed in hotels with companions, (ok, my x), who had to have the room pitch black, freezing cold, and sound proof.  I traded him in for TV on all night, candy on the bedside table, and me paying most of the bill.  There is no such thing as a perfectly compatible couple.  Travel can put a strain on any relationship.  Remember, this is a short term, trail period to see if your relationship will go the distance.
