Most miniature accessories can bring the greatest joy and good conversation. When friends enter my apartment, they first see the larger pieces, couch, chairs, and paintings. As we visit and they have a chance to look around the room, they notice the small accents I have carefully placed.
It is always fascinating to ask about my friends’ treasured items in their homes. When you are interested in their accessories, you are interested in the person. Many accessories have a history and possibly a relative to accompany the story.
Photos: The iron kitten bank was a gift from my grandmother to my mother. It is pretty heavy and a little worn but so treasured. My mother loved the bank she received as a child. I was thrilled she passed it down to me. The vintage Hubley cast iron kitty cat bank can be found on Esty with a value of $60.00 to $125.00. and the better the condition, the higher the price. No, I am not selling it, but it was fun to see its worth.
The other tiny treasures are the little dish from Holland and which was purchased from my Dutch grandfather for my maternal grandmother, Edna. The group of three on the navy blue table is a Herend starfish, a gift from a friend in Maine. The blown glass vessel is from Italy and purchased from my favorite store in Sarasota, Florida…Malbi Decor. The oval-shaped dish was from an antique store, and it also was made in Italy.
All these beautiful accessories bring me such joy. I enjoy watching others appreciate them as I do. Please let me know what tiny treasures bring you joy.
