West Virginia is home to one of the country’s most spectacular hotels, The Greenbrier. I have always wanted to stay at The Greenbrier, so why not celebrate my birthday at the hotel known as America’s Resort?  We arrived on a bright sunny day. The manicured lawn and tree-lined drive drew your eye to the most magnificent white building I have ever seen.

Entering the hotel was a huge surprise. I had no idea the famous decorator Dorothy Draper decorated The Greenbrier. Pictures are incredible, but nothing can compare to seeing the decor in person!  (Look at the Style Post for all the decorating details of the hotel.)

I went with my favorite traveling companion, my son Grayson. We made many of our reservations for activities while booking our hotel stay.  Grayson chose horseback riding, and we made reservations for a Farm-to-Table dinner on the night of my birthday.

The experience was outstanding. Grayson loved his morning horseback ride, just him and the instructor. We both spent as much time as we could in the infinity pool. You can read about my birthday dinner under FOOD here on the website; delightful. At night, we had excellent dinners, bowled in the bowling alley, walked the grounds, and met friends for a drink in the lounge. The Greenbrier also offers shopping, a coffee shop with a beautiful selection of home accessories, and a casino. Grayson was determined to spend as much time in the casino, and I was determined to keep him out of the casino. We came up with a compromise: the infinity pool.

This was not just a vacation; it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Have you experienced The Greenbrier for yourself? Let me know how you enjoyed your experience!
