I like Social Media because it makes you aware of entertainment you would miss. I was late-night scrolling, and across my screen came the color pink. I like pink a lot. Then I looked closer as if the cell phone wasn’t already in my face, and there was someone I recognized. Karen Morgan, the comedian, was going to be a hop, skip, and two major highways away. And she would be performing with another hilarious comedian, Karen Mills. So, two Karens and a night of laughter, I was packing my bag.
I moved quickly and secured a friend Suzanne, a hotel, and tickets to the Saturday night show.
And off we went to Littleton, NC. I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of girl.
My friend Suzanne and I were on the road when she asked where we were eating. I told her we would find a place once we got into town. It was Saturday, and I was sure there had to be a lunch spot. Thank goodness Suzanne was in charge of googling restaurants for lunch. She picked The Point on Gaston Lake, just a short distance from Littleton. The view was beautiful, and our lunch was great.
After the show, we had dessert at a fine dining restaurant called Blue Jay, ( Check out the Food blog to see our dessert selections.) The town of Littleton has new businesses opening, and we were lucky to get a seat at Blue Jay’s bar. The restaurant was fully booked. Traveling to small towns affords one new dining experience they may not find in a city.
Then we returned to I-85 and drove to The Fairfield Inn in Roanoke Rapids. I think I made Suzanne crazy going to the hotel. I am not afraid of backroads, but I was uncomfortable with dark backroads, no lighting, and no other cars. I was happy when I saw the hotel. In the morning, we took off for Richmond and had another fun lunch at Short Pump Mall before returning to Williamsburg.
I learn something every time I travel; this time, it was “plan ahead. “
