Can there be such a cake made with real Limoncello that is light, delicious, and picture perfect? I say YES! La Piazza in Colonial Williamsburg will delight you with their decadent dessert.
I consider myself a true lemon lover. Lemonade in a tall, narrow glass with lots of ice and a wedge of lemon is so refreshing. The smell of a lemon being sliced in my kitchen makes me smile. And, if I see lemon as an ingredient on a dessert menu, I am intrigued.
My son, Grayson, and I love dessert. Grayson ordered a slice of Limoncello cake at La Piazza. When the dessert was placed in front of my son, I knew I made a mistake by not getting one slice for me. My eyes darted back and forth from my son to the cake until he offered me a bite.
The cake was so moist with lemon curd between cake layers and then topped with creamy, smooth white icing. We all have our weaknesses, and I now have mine, Limoncello cake. I snuck back into La Piazza the next night, sat at the bar, and had a whole piece of cake, just for me. You can relate, right?
