I am asked quite frequently about the picturesque town of Kennebunkport, Maine. The first question is always about accommodations: where would you stay? The next question is what restaurants would you recommend?
I suggest The Colony Hotel located high on a hill overlooking the ocean right in Kennebunkport. The most breathtaking view is when you walk into the hotel lobby and the ocean is directly in front of you. Can you imagine sitting on your lounge chair looking out at the ocean and the bluest sky? Now imagine having a delightful lunch while enjoying the same view. But wait, the experience gets even better; you can take a dip in the saltwater pool. You could walk from the hotel into town. You can walk from the hotel to the ocean. What more could you want? The hotel was built in 1914 and has the old-world charm with all the modern amenities.
Kennebunkport has a wonderful variety of restaurants for a little town. There is a high concentration of lobster throughout dining menus. I know lots of other seafood choices exist, but I love lobster! If you don’t mind a 10-minute drive up the road to Cape Porpoise, Pier 77 has my favorite lobster roll. Pier 77 is tucked away in a cove and looks over the water with bobbing lobster boats as your view.
I could go on and on about how it is the perfect vacation spot. Why not, it is! Please let me know any questions you have about a vacation in Kennebunkport, and I will try to answer them without mentioning LOBSTER!
