In Williamsburg on Richmond Road, as you drive towards the William & Mary campus, there’s a new hot spot called Juan’s Taqueria & Cantina. Word of mouth is everything; that is exactly how my son and I heard about Juan’s.

“You must try it. This is our favorite Mexican food.” And I can see and taste why. College towns are known for cheap eats. Juan’s has an outstanding balance of inexpensive tacos and reasonably priced entrees to satisfy all appetites and budgets.

The chips were thin and crispy, and the salsa had the flavor of fresh tomatoes. Our waitress brought us more chips; we didn’t even have to ask. I ordered a marinated pork taco with chopped pineapple, onions, and cilantro. I also tried the Fried Shrimp Taco. My son had the Chimichanga with Chicken and Street Corn. We devoured all our food.

I could go on and on about the delicious food, but I want to mention the decor. The brightly colored walls and posters make for a fun and casual atmosphere. Wow, it is almost 5:00 pm. I am now headed over for takeout.
