Cape Charles is a small town on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. At one time, Cape Charles was a bustling railroad town like many along the Eastern Shore. The once busy railroad line that helped to establish Cape Charles has recently been dismantled. The town has survived many changes throughout its history. What has not changed is the charm of its distinctive homes.
Take your walking tour of the lovely streets lined with splendid examples of Victorian homes. All the streets that run from the beginning of the town end at the water’s edge. The road that runs along the water showcases stately homes. I enjoyed walking the tree-lined sidewalks to admire all the homes and explore the possibility of renting a house next visit.
This quiet oasis is a tiny year-round community, yet, there are plenty of homes for rent. You will see the signs as you walk up and down the streets. The appeal of the houses is evident in the restorations taking place. One picture of a home yet to be renovated, and I can’t wait to see the results.
I am fascinated to see how time will continue to draw families to the homes in Cape Charles. From a traditional Victorian in town to the more modern beach home just to the north, walk or bike, you are in for a lovely afternoon.
