How many turkeys are at your Thanksgiving Dinner? I don’t mean the bird on the table with stuffing in it. I mean your relatives. I had a few turkeys (relatives) for more than a few Thanksgiving, consisting of my mom, dad, and all the in-laws.
Bernice and Harry are my parents. Jack and Do were my in-laws. They are all dead now, but I hosted them for dinner while they were alive. I believed if the crazies were at my house for the holiday, they would behave better. LOL!
Harry always brought his newspaper and used it as a shield against having to interact with all in attendance, including Bernice. Bernice came in and proceeded to the kitchen to pre-eat and ooh and aww with every bite. Do & Jack were led by Do and entered with smiles, which quickly dissolved. There was no making Do and Jack happy.
As we sat for dinner, I would look at the clock and know these hours must be treasured because someday they would be gone, and I could never get this time back. Or I could drink the afternoon away. Bon Appetite!
