When are you the happiest? Have you looked at your behavior to examine what makes you feel good? Ups and Downs are part of life, and we know this fact. I want to help others get to a place of contentment. In my own life, I have been happy many times. I know how lucky I have been to experience these moments.
There have been other times when I felt I struggled to find true happiness. When I have had insurmountable sadness, a life event was usually the cause. Yet, for some, there is a more profound sadness. Can it be that we are hardwired to be happy, joyful, depressed, or sad? Some studies link genetic makeup with these emotions. What is the saying, “The struggle is real.”
I am not good at sports, so I practice. Happiness takes practice too. Practice what you say to yourself…self-talk. I tell myself, “Good job.” I tell myself, “You tried your best.” It certainly feels funny at first, but it makes a huge difference.
Now at 62, I remind myself not to listen to negative comments. It is the most helpful tool to feel good about myself. Shutting out others’ negativity can bring you a lifetime of contentment. You deserve happiness, so don’t be slow to pursue true happiness.
