I traveled to Wilmington, Delaware to get the “fall feeling.” It worked! I got to wear a sweater and shop at an outdoor market in Centreville, Delaware, and it was a great break from the Florida heat.
My trip started with Rusty picking me up at the Philadelphia airport and then I stayed with my friend Karen. She is the best cook! I had avocado toast and oatmeal for breakfast. Dinner was salmon cooked on the outdoor grill, delicious! Karen owns a three-story cottage home and I get to stay on the third floor. Her decorating style is French country. The guest room is in the eaves and has an iron headboard with the softest sheets. The comforter is big and fluffy and weighs you down just enough to give you the most secure feeling without smothering you. The bath just off the bedroom has the same French country feeling with a claw foot tub.
Now, I pack in as much as I can. Dinner with Rusty at Capers & Lemons and lunch at Four Dogs. A quick trip to Lewes for dinner at Striper Bites and an ice cream cone at King’s Homemade Ice Cream Shop. I then went to visit my friend Linda in Rehoboth Beach who took me out to meet her three rescue horses. It was truly amazing to see her interact with these beautiful animals. She drove me back to Wilmington so we could have time to talk…but in reality, there’s never enough time for Linda and I to talk. We’ve shared so many important moments over the years…especially with raising our sons who are great friends.
Time to go home. What?! I miss Rusty, Karen, and Linda and all my other friends who I didn’t get to see. Hopefully, another visit will not be far off, but I will treasure my time with these amazing friends.
