A great experience is to travel back to your home town and visit friends, and find a new restaurant. My friend mentioned she wanted to try Bar Reverie located in Greenville. I love French restaurants and cafes, so this sounded like a great find. I would describe the interior as dark, rich, and relaxing. Yet, we chose the outdoor patio because of the mild weather.

Bar Reverie was a perfect spot to share an afternoon charcuterie. Their interpretation of charcuterie is personalized and called Provençal Lunch with three kinds of cheese, sliced house-made bread, and accoutrements consisting of olives, nuts, and sliced meats. The Provencal Lunch is perfectly paired with a glass of Rosé. So why share when you need to each have your own glass of Rosé?

Then to our delight, dessert was truly the lightest and most flavorful Lemon Posset. Is it a pudding? Is it a custard?  It is the finest Lemon Posset I have ever tasted.  Then I found out why, the Pastry Chef is Gretchen Sianni, formerly of De La Coeur Cafe at Patisserie.  When I lived in Wilmington, I was in love with all the pastries at De La Coeur.   The owner of Bar Reverie was clever to have one of the finest pastry chefs join this establishment.  I drove back the next day before I had to catch the train and grabbed the last two chocolate croissants. One for me, and one for my friend who hosted me during my visit.

Don’t delay, Bar Reverie will have a waiting list for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
