Developing this website has been a dream come true for me…with my goal being to help others through sharing experiences.  What do you need to improve your day?  Do you feel alone or lonely?  I don’t want you to sit alone wondering how you’ll get through the next day or the next week. There Is No Normal has content to help!

Click on “Caregiving” and you might find a post that gives you hope…or possibly a post about a caregiving experience you can relate to.  Please let me know what subjects you’d like to hear about.

The key factor for me was finding the right counselor.  If you need someone to talk to, ask your family doctor to refer you to a psychiatrist, psychologist, or counselor.  Or ask friends for recommendations.  You’ll be surprised how many people see a professional.

I was very lucky with my first counselor, Betty.  I was in my 20s and she was a positive and supportive person.  She made me realize I was bright and that I understood what caused my depression.  I just needed to find a way out of my depression.  Growing up, the only words you’d hear in my house were along the line of, “Feeling a little blue today?”  Blue?  It was more like I didn’t want to live anymore!  Betty knew that for my safety and sanity, I needed to learn coping skills…and she was right.  Today I believe people refer to them as “boundaries.”

Never give up or give in…there is a way to deal with depression.  Let’s face this together.
