I’m in wonder that the rest of the country is headed into fall. It does cool off in Florida… sometimes…some years. Fall is a beautiful time of year. We all know this, but what about those who have lived in Florida all of their life? The summer has been so hot that by September there are dried leaves on the ground.
When I lived up north, I loved raking up fall leaves and stepping on them to hear the crunch. In Sarasota, I can round up enough leaves and step on, but I have to make the crunch sound myself. We have light breezes here that remind me of fall weather…kind of. I tell myself that cooler weather will be here soon. Today it’s 79 degrees. Anything under 80 and it rocks!
I love seeing older people (75 to 110 years old) wearing a lightweight sweater. It makes me feel young. The only time I wear a sweater is in my condo because my son turns the air conditioning to 70 and I freeze. I laugh when I hear the weatherman in Sarasota say, “A cold front is coming through.” I want to add, “…on its way up north to Minnesota?” I will never complain about fall, winter, or spring in Florida. I don’t own a shovel or a parka or a Farmers’ Almanac!
