I could have named this blog….”Oh no, here come the holidays.” The words self-control and holidays don’t have a good relationship. They are always at odds during October, November, and December.
I am at fault here because I have no control over my eating habits. I know folks get hungry just thinking about chili, beef stew, and all the hot soups that help to keep us warm in cold months. For me, it’s all about desserts. I wish it were the first course in every meal.
I love the holidays, but must they all be so close together? If, and I say if, they were spread out a little more, I think I could maintain my weight. I have read that if you are going to a party, drink lots of water. Water consumption is supposed to fill you up, and you eat less at the party.
This makes me laugh because my bladder is always ready to give me more room to consume. While everyone is chatting it up at a party, I am scoping the dessert table across the room. Like my mother, Bernice, I know which cupcake has the most icing. And no one will get their hands on it but me. And, if it is a holiday event…I will find the dessert room and act like each dessert is my first.
“Oh, I have never had chocolate and caramel together before.” I should be ashamed.
Happy Holidays!
