They are back in style, wide-leg pants. Will you take the plunge? I just went into J. Crew and the Banana Republic tried on their wide-leg pants. I have never worn so much fabric since my first winter in Maine. Now, I know I should not make fun of a popular style I wore in the 1970s. I can’t help but wonder if I should repeat a fashion statement years later.

In fashion, you get good advice and bad advice. I was told not to wear a popular fashion style as an “older” woman that I wore as a young girl. Have you heard this advice, or is it just me? I definitely can understand skipping a mini skirt after a certain age. I was also advised I was too old to wear jeans…this was terrible advice.

I like to incorporate some trends into my wardrobe. My style is conservative with a flair. I would never wear a head-to-toe leopard pattern, but I would add leopard or cheetah as a shoe, scarf, or other accessories. I asked about a leopard top, and the salesperson instructed me it was cheetah fabric. I’ll point next time.

I have my style, but I can be influenced. Most of the time, I am spot on and even a bit ahead of a fashion trend. Then there is the moment I experience “Wait and see.” The wide-leg pants are a wait-and-see. What about you? What is your game plan?
