Christmas in July…I hear those words and feel anxious. Christmas is in the month of December, right? I don’t have to go into storage to get the holiday decorations until November 1… or so I thought.
I make it through Christmas in July without making a purchase. August, is my favorite month, and the summer is at its peak. Vacations, beach and salt water, summer cocktails, and Halloween. Wait… Halloween? Apparently so, Walgreens and CVS have begun to set up Halloween candy displays. I like candy, and candy loves me. But the principle of it being August stands, and I need to make it through the pharmacy without buying Halloween candy.
I get my speed walk on and head down the makeup aisle and past the toothbrushes to find eye drops. Grab the eye drops and race past makeup while throwing out my right arm to snatch my Cover Girl mascara. I am almost to the register when I run into an employee with a box of Halloween Candy open. She is about to place the candy with the other orange-wrapped chocolate sweet treats. I talk to myself about self-control and politely ask if she has the chocolate-covered marshmallow pumpkins. She said no.
So, I drove over to Panera Bread and had a pumping spice muffin.
What are your thoughts on these stores putting out holiday paraphernalia so early?
