I did it. I went into Anthropologie in Alexandria. I tried not to, but I couldn’t help it this trip. I was walking by, and the display caught my eye. I held my handbag close so as to not open it.
Spring dresses with appealing colors were all around me. I picked one dress to try on. A very sweet and savvy sales lady put a second dress over my arm. “The blue and white dress would look beautiful on you!” She directed me to the stairs to climb to the dressing room in the sky…the second floor.
I quickly tried on the print I felt was my favorite, not blue. I buy everything in blue. This time I was going to be strong, no blue fabric. I walked out of the dressing room to the mirror that always makes you look better with it’s low lighting. I was surrounded by ladies who were helping a young woman choose a dress. I took a quick look and headed back to the dressing room, with the bright lighting.
I am a weak shopper but it was the savvy sales lady who told me to try the blue one on. “Same dress, different fabric,” said she. Oh noooo, I had to pick one. And, as soon as I walked out of the dressing room, the other ladies made my mind up for me. “The blue, oh you look better in the blue.” I think they place these ladies outside of every dressing room.
Anthropologie is smart in their displays, sales staff and lighting. I did open my purse to buy the blue dress. I can’t wait to show it to you, do you want to see the dress?
